Obituary

Gilbert K. Greene, Jr., 79, of Palmer Twp., PA, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017 in St. Lukes Hospital, Anderson Campus.

Gil was born on January 6, 1938, in Washington, DC, a son of the late Gilbert K. Greene, Sr. and Anna L. (Patterson) Greene.

Gil previously lived in Valley Stream, NY and Harmony Twp., Phillipsburg, NJ. He was the loving husband of Frances (Zingone) Greene. Gil was very active in his community. He was the founder and president of the Delaware & Lehigh Valley Genealogy Club; Founder and Officer of the HOG History Club; Member, Genealogist and Historian of the Philipsburg Area Historical Society; Adjunct Professor of Genealogy at Northampton Community College; served on the HOG Executive Board; Committee Member of the Northampton County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council; Chaired the Harmony Twp. Land Use Board; Founder and Chair of the Harmony Twp. Farmland Preservation Commission; Member of the Warren County Open Space and Recreation Commission; Member of the Warren County Municipal & Charitable Trust; Chair of Lopatcong Twp. Planning Board; Member of the Phillipsburg Board of Education; Member of the Board of Directors Community Basketball League; and a NJSIAA and PIAA Basketball referee. He was a great supporter of the Family YMCA Easton, Phillipsburg & vicinity. He was a member of their Board of Trustees; President of the Board of Directors; Chair of the Resident Camp Committee and the 2000 Volunteer of the Year. He enjoyed many years with family and close friends at the Y Camp. Gil received his BA in Business from Adelphi College and served in the US Army from 1959-1960 and the New York Army National Guard form 1959-1966. He retired in 2000 from Victaulic Company, Forks Twp. Easton as Manager of Marketing Services.

In addition to his wife, Gil is survived by his children, G. Kennedy Greene III and wife Diane of Easton, Cynthia Edwards and husband John of Phillipsburg; step children Joseph Green of Phillipsburg, and Juliana Wagner and husband Robert of Tatamy; his grandchildren who lit up his life, Emily and Rachel Edwards of Phillipsburg and Kaitlyn and Colin Wagner of Tatamy. He is also survived by a sister, Patricia A. Clark of Hingham, MA. He is predeceased by a brother, Ryland Greene.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp). Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Flynns on the Hill, Phillipsburg, NJ.
