Obituary

After a long illness, George William Larsen, Jr., 87, of Easton, PA, passed away in Easton Hospital on April 4, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. George was born in Alexandria Twp., Hunterdon County, NJ, a son of the late George W. Larsen Sr., and Sarah Irene Hunt. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, George was married to the former Kay Louise Hourigan for 51 years. He attended schools in Everittstown and Newark, NJ, later receiving his GED while in the service. He joined the US Army Air Corps in 1947, and was honorable discharged from the United States Air Force in 1956, with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked as a cook, factory worker, and truck driver last employed by Cornelly Trucking Co., Harmony, NJ, before retiring in 1991. Prior to that, he was employed by Leigh Fuel Corporation, Alpha, NJ, where he was employed for 23 years. He and Mrs. Larsen were, at one time, foster parents for the Northampton County Department of Children and Youth. In his younger days, George enjoyed fishing and hunting. In his later years, he had a fondness for doing Jigsaw puzzles and Word Find puzzles. He discovered the works of Zane Grey and Louis LAmour and read almost everything that either ever wrote. George was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Easton. In addition to his wife, George is survived by his children George W. Larsen, III and wife Karen of Hamilton Square, NJ, Deborah L. Comiskey and husband Robert of Ewing Twp., NJ, Andrew E. Larsen and wife Letitia Shiner of Bangor, Karl D. Larsen and wife Tina of Wilson Boro., Christian E. Larsen and wife Heather of Easton, Maritsa E. Larsen at home; grandchildren Robert and Jessica Comiskey, Caleb, Elizabeth, Kaitlin, Jonathan, Keegan, Shaun and Alicia Larsen; a great-grandson Aiden; another great-grandchild is expected in September; and a brother Carl Larsen of East Athens, PA. He is preceded in death by his brothers Charles A., William E. and Robert E. Larsen. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp). Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 am to 10:00 am in the church, 9th & Lehigh Streets, Easton, PA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in the church. Interment will be in Frenchtown Cemetery, Frenchtown, NJ.
