Karen Ann McGrath Hartman, 69, of Fredericksburg, VA, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ died peacefully on December 6, 2025 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg after a brief illness. Karen was born on April 13, 1956 to Charles M. and Shirley F. (Cuvo) McGrath.

Karen graduated from Saints Philip and James Elementary School in 1970 and Phillipsburg High School in 1974. She was employed as an Information Technology Project Engineer and System Integrator in the Maryland and Virginia area during her professional career. She enjoyed participating in sports as well as watching and cheering her favorite sports teams throughout her life. She found great pleasure in playing the guitar and keyboard. Karen loved animals and was a dedicated caregiver to many beloved pets.

Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley F. McGrath in 2006; her father, Charles M. McGrath in 2007 and many beloved aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her Golden Retriever, Riley.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Saint Philip and Saint James Catholic Church, 430 South Main Street, Phillipsburg, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Saint Philip and Saint James Cemetery in Greenwich Township, NJ.

Flowers will be accepted as well as memorial contributions in Karen's name to Saint Philip and Saint James Catholic Church, 430 South Main Street, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865.
