Obituary

Kristyn M. DeGiovine, 40, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 15, 1982 in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of Geraldine (Monteserrato) and the late Herbert DeGiovine. Kristyn worked as a speech language pathologist for Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit- 21 and had a true passion for helping young children with developmental delays in the inner-city.

During high school, she attended Mary Louise Academy and enjoyed volleyball and softball the most. Kristyn could easily fill the room with her quick- wit and enjoyed spending time with her kids and wife above anything else. She and her wife enjoyed traveling with their kids to Disney and Sanibel Island as often as possible. Some of their best memories came from riding in their family van going south on route 95. Her hobbies included building legos, driving fast, scaring the hell out of her wife, swimming with her kids, watching tv and movies while eating popcorn and candy, cheering for the New York Mets, going to concerts, going to the beach and spending time with her beloved dogs.

Kris was a proud "dance mom" and got so much joy out of watching her kids play soccer, play field hockey, play basketball, write stories, and draw cartoons. Watching her kids grow and succeed was the largest driving force for Kristyn as she fought "effing cancer". She and Deb wanted to be parents more than anything else in this life. She often wore shirts that said "Hakuna Matata" as she pushed through each and every treatment. She taught and modeled resiliency each moment of the day for her children and everyone around her. There simply are not words to express the powerful presence and value that she added to so many people's lives."

In addition to her mother, Geraldine DeGiovine, Kristyn is survived by her loving wife, Deborah (Hart) DeGiovine; children, Damien, Tyrus, Drayven, Phoenix, Mila; brother, Jason DeGiovine of West Islip; father-in-law, Robert Hart; dogs, Cohlby, Elsa, Winnie, Hope. She is now reunited and snuggling with  Cocoa and Sheayla.
