Obituary

Lawrence W. O'Neill, known as Larry or Pop-Pop to his many, many friends, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 5th, at the age of 88. He was born and raised in Chicago, and lived the American Dream. He served in the US Army during the Korean War, and later graduated from DePaul University. He went to work as a stock boy at the Victor Balata Belting Company, which, through tireless work and effort, he ended up owning shortly after having moved to Easton. He worked at the company for over 60 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Easton. Despite his many accomplishments and business achievements, his focus was always on family. He is survived by his wife Gerry, his sister Jeanie, his three sons and their wives, Dave and Constance, Timothy and Juliet, and Brian and Tiffany, his stepdaughter Deanna and her husband BJ, and the lights of his life; his nine Grandchildren; Victor, Lauren, Sarah, Ellen, Phillip, Jeffrey, William, Reese and Brynn. He lived a rich and full life, and one is amazed at all he accomplished in an all too short 88 years. When speaking or thinking of him, the word 'amazing' continually comes to mind. He had a special love of children, who adored him as well. He had friends and admirers from all walks of life, and despite health concerns, he never let anything stand in his way or cause him to have a bad day. He loved his family, loved his life, and made the absolute most out of it. He touched the lives of a great many people and was loved for it. His warmth, energy, and sense of humor were beyond all reckoning. It is impossible to summarize or to capture such a man in so few words, but if you knew him, you admired, enjoyed and remembered him. "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." - Helen Keller A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 132 South Fifth St, Easton. Calling hours are Friday, August 12th at 9:30am and the Mass will follow at 10:30am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Our Lady of Mercy Church.
