It is with profound sorrow that the family of Louis R. Mazza 83, of Forks Twp., PA, announce his passing on the afternoon of February 20th, 2020. Louis left us peacefully, with his children and beloved wife, Angela by his side-as she has been for all of their 60 years of marriage.
Louis was born on May 13, 1936 in Easton, PA, son of the late Louis D. and Sadie (Natoli) Mazza.
Lou was a graduate of Easton High School, class of 1954; West Chester Teachers College, class of 1958; he earned a Masters degree in music education from Temple University, where he also studied for a doctorate. He later served in the US Army as a member of the U.S. Military Academy Band at West Point.
Lou was the Musical Director and Band Leader at Saucon Valley High School, retiring after 30 years in June 1991. In retirement, he continued to perform, playing lead saxophone and other woodwind instruments on show stages throughout the United States, from New York, Atlantic City and the Poconos to Seattle, for some of the world's best-known musicians and comedians.
Lou was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and Oak Hill Golf Club in Milford, NJ where he was an avid golfer for 30 years.
In addition to his wife, Louis is survived by his children Cheryl Delutis and husband John, Jr., of Stewartsville, NJ, Laurie Sales of Bethlehem, Louis Mazza II and partner James Holbrook of Media; grandchildren Jackie Cothren and husband Charlie, John Delutis III and wife Lindsay, Stephen Sales, Allison Heiken and husband Eric, Kaitlyn Peppel and husband Douglas, Simon Mazza, Dylan Mazza, Morgan Sales; and a great-grandson John Delutis IV. He is preceded in death by a sister Barbara Mamana.
A calling hour will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 9 th & Lehigh Streets, Easton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in the church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp).
