Obituary

Margaret (Tomko) Gotto, 100, a native of Easton, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at home in Laguna Niguel, California.

Margie, as she is known to loved ones and friends, was born on August 28, 1923 in West Easton, Pennsylvania to the late Michael and Mary (Demchak) Tomko. She was the fourth of six children in the Tomko family, and was very close with all of her siblings: Anna, Mary, Susan, Michael, and Elizabeth (Betty), all pre-deceasing her.

Margaret lived most of her life in Palmer Township where she was a cherished wife, mother, homemaker, neighbor, and friend. Her beloved husband, Ralph A. Gotto, originally of Nazareth, PA, pre-deceased her in 2017 at the age of 90. She was a proud member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Easton. Known for her beautiful red hair and sweet smile, Margie loved to cook and bake, and entertain family and friends in her cherished Sears & Roebuck-style home. She was an exceptional artist and a colorful storyteller often recalling anecdotes of growing up in West Easton and being crowned May Queen in 1938 at the once-prominent Livingston School. She was a 1941 graduate of Easton Area High School. Later in life, at the age of 95, she moved to California to live with her only son, Joseph, and his family.

She is survived by her daughter, Loris A. Miller of Palmer Township; son, Joseph Gotto of Laguna Niguel, California; daughter, Lisa Gotto of Chestertown, Maryland; daughter, Dawn Carr of Lake Worth, Florida, and three grandchildren.
