Dr. Marialuisa N. McAllister, 83, of Bethlehem Twp., PA, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 in Sterling Heights Village, Bethlehem.
Marialuisa was born on August 22, 1933, in Milano, Italy, daughter of the late Emanuele and Marcella (Borrini) Nicosia.
She is the beloved wife of the late Gregory T. McAllister, to whom she was married for 48 years. Marialuisa received a Doctorate in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Rome, Italy. She went on to complete post-doctoral studies at the University of California at Berkeley. She taught at Aberdeen Ballistics Laboratory and Towson State before joining Moravian College as a professor of Mathematics. She was a professor Emerita at Moravian, has authored many research papers on mathematics and applications of Fuzzy Logic, and served on multiple executive committees including NAFIPS and MAA. Among her many awards are two Fulbright fellowships and multiple NSF grants.
Marialuisa is survived by her children Kevin McAllister and wife, Kristin, of Cincinnati, OH, Matthew McAllister and wife, Kasia, of Bethlehem Twp., Sabina Coghe and husband, Paolo, of London, England and a nephew, Marco Nicosia. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Franco Nicosia.
Calling hours will be held 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, with an additional calling hour 9:30 am to 10:30 am, Friday in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp). A funeral service will be held 10:30 am, Friday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
