Mary J. Febbo, 95, widow of the late A. Gene Febbo, of Bethlehem Township, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital, Anderson Campus.
Born on August 14, 1927 in North Bergen, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Emily (Vitale) Musumeci.
Mary and her beloved husband Gene were married for 61 wonderful years. They renewed their vows on their 50th anniversary at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, the same church where they were married on April 18, 1948.
Mary graduated from Easton High School in 1945 and went on to become an accomplished bookkeeper and tax preparer.
After their marriage, Mary and Gene started a manufacturing company in Easton known as Deal Products, Inc. They worked together for more than 30 years at that business with Mary managing the office.
Later, Mary assisted her two sons - Gary, a lawyer, and Jeffrey, a certified financial planner - as their office manager, bookkeeper and tax preparer. She continued in that capacity for almost 40 years.
Mary was a remarkable mother to Gary and Jeffrey and a devoted grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was kind, considerate and generous and she was loved by everyone who knew her.
She was active in the Parent Teacher Association at Palmer Elementary School, Easton Junior High School and Easton Area High School. She served as president of each school's PTA.
Among her many charitable endeavors, Mary was a member of the Women's Board at Easton Hospital where she was chairman of the hospital gift shop. The Board raised money through the gift shop for nursing scholarships.
Mary, ever the female entrepreneur, began a part-time business as a Mary Kay cosmetics representative in 1979, providing skin care advice to her loyal customers. Her involvement with Mary Kay was a labor of love for her because she strongly believed in the company's products.
She was a fan of the New York Yankees - the favorite team of her sons - and she liked to watch mystery programs on TV. Murder She Wrote was one of her favorites.
Mary was a great cook and was legendary within her extended family for her delicious cannoli, which she made from scratch every Christmas.
She was a member of the St. Anthony of Padua parish in Easton for most of her life. In recent years, when she was unable to attend Mass in person, she watched services on St. Anthony's Facebook page.
Besides her two sons, Mary is survived by two grandchildren, Paul Febbo and his wife Emily, and Caroline Bechtel and her husband Ryan, a daughter-in-law Leeann Febbo, a sister Joan Piagesi and a brother Thomas Musumeci and his wife, Laurie. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews, who admired and loved her.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary was predeceased by a brother S. Charles Musumeci, and two sisters, Sally Parsons and Connie D'Alberto.
