Obituary

Mary C. Shumar, 102, of Palmer Township passed away November 18, 2017.

She was born December 2, 1914 in New Hartford, NY. The daughter of John and Mary (Herbert) Cully. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was a member of the sodality.

She was a graduate of New Hartford High School and the Utica School of Commerce. On May 19, 1945 she was married in Holy Infancy Church, of Bethlehem, PA to Sheb M. Shumar Sr. She was employed by Genesse Auto Supply Company in Utica for 7 years prior to moving to Easton, PA. Mary was employed by Delightform Foundation, West Easton for 15 years until the plant was sold and moved out of town. She then worked for Cooper Industries, the Pennsylvania compression plant in Palmer Township until her retirement in 1984.

Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, family was most important to Sito Mary. She was an avid sports Fan, a loving member of the Lebanese Community and thematriarch of the Shumar family. She will be forever missed by all.

Mary is a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, in Easton.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Sheb M. Shumar Sr who passed away as the result of an automobile accident on June 29, 1967.

Mary is survived by her children, Charlotte Assise of Palmer, Habouk Shumar and his wife Maria of Bethlehem Township and Sheb M. Shumar Jr. and his wife Leila of Chestnut Hill, MA, 8 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren, loving Cousin Marlene Bedway. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by three brothers, John, Phillip and Namon Cully, a sister Ann Joseph , and son-in-law Joseph Assise Jr, and nephews Namon Cully and Chris Joseph.

Calling hours be held on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer of the Incense at 7:45 p.m. in Morello Funeral Home, Inc. 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.) An additional calling hour will be held on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home. A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 4th & Ferry Streets, Easton. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Palmer Twp.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, where Mary was a lifelong donor or to Auriesville Shrine 136 Shrine Rd. Fultonville, NY 12072. Online condolences may be offered at www.morellofuneralhome.com
