Obituary

Nicholas Petrignani, 88, of Easton passed away Friday December 22, 2017 at New Eastwood Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

Nicholas was the son of the late Paul and Angelina (Losita) Petrignani of New York.

Nicholas was married to the late Mildred Petrignani who passed away in 2013. He was a Police Dispatcher for the Easton Police Department; and also taught at Hawks Music teaching woodwinds and brass instruments. He was an avid golfer, football fan and reader; and family, education and travels were the pillars of his life.

He was a graduate of Easton Area High School, where he was involved in many activities including the high school bands, the schools orchestra, and the basketball program. He then obtained his Associates in Business from Rider University in NJ and, also attended West Chester University of Philadelphia to study Music Theory before doing his Graduate Degree work at the University of Delaware in Criminal Justice for the Easton Police Department.

Nicholas was a member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church, the American Legion, the Pioneer band and Italian-American Band. He also played in many Lehigh Valley Big Bands and the Paesano Band which was also known as Charlie Pirellos Band. Two of Nicholas most noteworthy achievements were playing the clarinet and saxophone for Benny Goodmans Big Band; and cutting a record deal with RCA and his jazz band Kool Kats where they then played at the Peppermint Lounge, NY. Nicholas served in the US Airforce during the Korean War and upon completing four years of active duty, he played in the Airforce band for an additional year.

Nicholas is survived by a daughter Sheree Petrignani and husband Carl Horn; two sons Eric Petrignani and Chris Kuntz and wife Jane; grandchildren: Denielle, Christopher Jr., Zachary, Ryan, Dominick, Nikolaus, Santino and Shelby. Nicholas also has family in New Jersey, New York and Florida; John and Carl Petrignani, Betty and Carl Mancino and other extended family. He is preceded in death by a brother Carlo Petrignani; a sister Antoinette (Petrignani) Scrafano; his uncle Nicky and wife Antonette Petrignani; and his grandparents Carlo and Antonia Petrignani who were originally from Italy.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with an additional calling hour on Saturday from 8:15 am to 9:15am in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Township). A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 900 Washington Street, Easton, PA. Interment will be in Forks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Nicholas Petrignanis name may be made to the Easton Area High School Marching Band to Ms. Carole A. Lutte, the music teacher and band director, at 2601 William Penn Highway, Easton, PA 18045.
