Norman E. Trapp of Palmer, 85 years old, passed away on June 4, 2026. He was born on September 4, 1940 in Bethlehem, PA.
Norm attended public schools in Bethlehem and graduated from Liberty High School, class of 1958. In 1960, he started a 56 year career in the baking industry as a bread truck driver for Schaibles Bakery in Wilson Borough. Over the years, he worked his way up through the ranks to supervisor, sales manager, and plant manager. Maiers Bakery of Reading, PA acquired Schaibles and he was promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing in 1985. When Maiers was acquired in June, 1998 by another company, Norm obtained a new position as President of Quality Bakers of America based in Greenwich, Conn. He retired from QBA in 2016.
Norman and his wife, Barbara were members of Trinity Episcopal Church, Northampton Country Club and the Pomfret Club. He served as Vice President of the State Theatre Board of Directors from 1985 to 1991. He was a voracious reader and always had a deep love of all genres of music.
Norman and Barbara enjoyed vacations, family, friends and had a passion for arts and culture. They enjoyed Broadway Cabaret and Jazz shows in New York City. They traveled extensively in the United States and Europe. Favorite vacations were Vermont in the winter and Stone Harbor, NJ in the summer. They also attended many local Bach Choir Festivals where Norm was a guarantor for 30 years.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara in 2021.
He will always be remembered and forever loved by his children, Michael Trapp and wife, Sue of Readington, NJ; Linda Reese and husband, Joseph of Bethlehem; Susan Szilagyi and husband, Jeffrey of Hellertown; Carol Trapp of Hellertown; William Trapp and wife, Tracy of Bethlehem; Stephen Peterson and wife, Beth of Greenville, SC; and Gregory Peterson of Allentown as well as 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.) A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will be private in Northampton Memorial Shrine. Online condolences may be offered at www.morellofuneralhome.com
