Paul John Eck, 90, of Forks Twp., PA, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in Kirkland Village, following a lengthy illness and courageous battle.
Paul was born on October 19, 1926 in South Williamsport, PA. He was the son of the late Eugene Jerome and Magdalena (Haefner) Eck.
Paul was the loving husband of Dorothy Arlene Folmar Eck. They celebrated 69 years of marriage on May 8th. Paul was employed in the textile industry for 44 years before retiring in 1987. For 14 years, he was plant manager of Marlu Limited in Granby, Quebec, Canada, Worth Textiles in Sylvester, GA and Liberty Fabrics in Gordonsville, VA. Most of his years were spent in management at Collins and Aikman, Inc. in Pen Argyl, PA, in Cowpens, South Carolina and in Farmville, NC and at Chopak Fabrics in South Williamsport, PA.
Paul was Past President and Honorary Life member of the First Ward Fire Company in South Williamsport, PA. Past President of the three South Williamsport Fire Departments and Past President of the West Branch Firemans Association which was comprised of 27 Fire Companies in the State of Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Williamsport Lodge No. 145 for over 40 years. Paul was a graduate of St. Marys High School in Williamsport, PA, class of 1944. He was a veteran of World War II and served as a Lieutenant in the United States Coast Guard United Stated Merchant Marines.
Paul was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Palmer Twp.
In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by two daughters, Margaret (Peggy) Louise Prentiss and husband Gerald (Jerry) of Forks Twp., Diane Marie Perin of Gaithersburg, MD; a son Thomas Paul Eck and wife Jean of Greenville, NC; six grandchildren Deanna Marie Egelston and husband Phillip of Rockville, MD, Joey Leigh Mock and her husband Tim of Greenville, SC, Michelle Lynn Zanette and wife Jennifer Eisenberg of Florence, NJ, Scott Nolan Perin and wife Nicole of Slatington, PA, Michael Joseph Zanette and wife Sharon of Wall, NJ, Joseph William Zanette and wife Kathleen of Williamsburg, VA; seven great-grandchildren Kayla and Kinsley Zanette, Morgan Egelston, Gianna and Evan Zanette, Eli and Abel Perin; two sisters Magdalene Morton of Montgomery AL, Evelyn Eiswerth of Williamsport, PA; two brothers Eugene J. Eck and wife Arlene of South Williamsport, PA, Joseph T. Eck and wife Mary of Williamsport, PA; brother-in-law Robert Norton of South Williamsport, PA; nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a son Larry Francis Eck who died in 1977 as a result of an automobile accident; his parents; his sisters Catherine Bower and Dorothy Norton, brothers-in-law Norbert Bower, Herbert Morton and Joseph Eiswerth.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm with an additional calling hour on Wednesday from 10:30 am to 11:30 am in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 12:00 pm in St. Jane Frances Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Avenue, Palmer Twp. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Palmer Twp.
