Peter Gonzalez, 95, of Easton, PA, joined the Lord and his sweetheart, Helen, on Sunday, August 13, 2023.

Peter was born in Hellertown, Pa on August 29, 1927 to the late Peter and Rufina (Cruz) Gonzalez. He spent his childhood working on his family's farm alongside his parents and siblings.

Pete was a quiet, kind man. He knew what it was to have very little, which seemed to inform his approach to life. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, and took meticulous care of his home and yard. He was very proud of his family and his home—they were his whole world.

Pete also loved the outdoors. He walked Hacketts Park each morning, and immersed himself in nature, no matter the season: snow-mobiling in the winter, gardening and yardwork in the spring and summer, and hunting in the fall with his dog at his side.

Pete met his wife, Helen Gonzalez, at The Saints dance hall—charming her with his dance moves and charisma. Pete bided his time before their first kiss, explaining that he knew after that he'd be a "goner." He and Helen wed on May 2, 1954, dancing together through the decades. They celebrated their 69th anniversary this year.

Pete worked as a machinist for Ingersoll Rand for 32 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Beaver Dam Hunting Club, St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and St. Anthony's Golden Age Club.

Peter is survived by his daughter Jayne Lenzo and her husband Frank; and his grandchildren: Angela Donahue and her husband Matthew, Jessica Diamond and her husband Gregory, Courtney Lenzo and her partner William Kavanagh, and Joseph Lenzo. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Rufina, eight siblings, and his wife, Helen.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 19th at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 9th and Lehigh St, Easton. Interment will be in the St. Anthony of Padua Cemetery in Easton. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the National Wildlife Federation in Pete's honor.
