Name: Phyllis T. Storms, 86, of Cumberland, MD, formerly of Easton, PA, passed away on Monday, August 16th in Frostburg Village Nursing Center, Frostburg, MD, following complications after a suffering stroke in July. Phyllis moved to Frostburg to be nearer to family in May 2010, after more than 58 years residence in Palmer Township. She was a former resident of Country Meadows Retirement Communities in Bethlehem, PA for 5 years. Born: Phyllis was born on March 19, 1924 in Stroudsburg, PA, a daughter of the late Arthur E. Taylor and Beulah Strunk Taylor. Phyllis enlisted in the Navy during World War II. She attained the rank of Yeoman Second Class and she was stationed at the Philadelphia Naval Yard, serving as a secretary for an Admiral and other officers. She met her husband Carl R. Storms, also a Navy veteran, returning on a bus from Philadelphia to Stroudsburg, the town where they each grew up and attended high school. Personal: Phyllis was a full-time wife and mother to two daughters for many years. Starting to work in 1966, Phyllis was the bookkeeper for Eastwood Convalesant in Wilson Boro, retiring in 1980. She worked with computers and generated invoices on a mainframe computrer in the 1970's when computers were not common. Memberships: Phyllis was a member and former President of St. Jane De Francis Chantal PTA, and actively participated in the Bar-Don Lanes bowling leagues for many years. Survivors: Phyllis is survived by daughters Kathy Storms of Napa, CA, and Robin Storms of Cumberland, MD; former son-in-law Larry Bruch of Grantsville, MD; grandchildren Abby, Rachel and Zachary Bruch, and great-grandchild Avabella Storms Perfetti. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl Storms, and brothers Hugh Taylor, and Frank Taylor. Carl passed away on September 8, 2009 just a few days shy of the couple's 61ST wedding anniversary. Services: A calling hour will be held on Thursday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.). Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 in the funeral home. Interment will be at Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
