Dr. Pradeep Sujanmal Ghia of Easton, PA, passed away in his home on Thursday, January 19, 2017.
Born on May 14, 1953, in Bombay, India, he was a son of the late Sujanmal C. Ghia and Surajben Ghia.
Dr. Ghia retired in 2016 from active cardiology practice after faithfully serving his patients for 32 years at Easton, St. Lukes, Warren, and Muhlenberg Hospitals. He received specialty certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease in 1987 and Internal Medicine in 1982. He completed his fellowship in cardiology at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA, in 1984, and performed his medical residency at Hahnemann and Easton Hospitals. He graduated from Seth G.S. Medical College in Bombay, India, in 1977. He was a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Echocardiography, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Northampton County Medical Society. Dr. Ghia was also a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Drexel/MCP Hahnemann University.
Dr. Ghia was an engaged member of the community, had a great appreciation for the outdoors, embarked on many adventurous trips as a member of the local canoe club, traveled the world with his family, and greatly enjoyed playing golf and tennis. Above all, he loved his family and cared deeply for his patients.
Dr. Ghia is survived by his three children, Monisha Ghia of Hellertown, PA, Samir Ghia of Miami, FL, Sunita Ghia of New York, NY, as well as his sister, Jyoti Jain of Chattanooga, TN, and brother, Hemant Ghia of Bombay, India, among many others. He was formerly married to Kathy McCusker of Bath, PA.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:30pm until 6:30pm in the Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas St. Easton (Palmer Twp.) A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 6:30pm in the funeral home. Interment will be held privately.
