Ramanathan "Ram" Cumarasamy, 86, of Bethlehem, PA, passed way on Monday, June 24, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown, PA.
Ram was born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, a son of the late W.M. Cumarasamy and Kanakambigai Ambalavanar.
Ram was married to Chandra Devi (Ranganathan) Cumarasamy. He was a graduate of Government Arts College of Chennai, India, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He also a received a Diploma of Music from the University of Madras in India. Ram was a teacher, musician, and businessman until retiring in 1990. He belonged to the Perumal Kadavai Pillayiar Kovil Temple, and he was a member of the North Ceylon Oriental Music Society. He was also a trustee and the director of Kalaimanram School of Music and Dancing, Sri Lanka and a supergrade artist of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation.
In addition to his wife, Ram is survived by daughters Mrinalini Vivekananthan and husband Ramesh, Dharini Ram Cumarasamy and husband Dharmarajan; seven siblings; grandchildren Akshara Ahalya Vivekananthan, Aneeshwar Ram Vivekananthan, Vishnoo Ram Vivekananthan, and Akshay Ram Dharmarajan. He is preceded in death by six siblings.
Services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.), followed by cremation. Interment of ashes will be private in India. Online condolences may be offered at www.morellofuneralhome.com .
