Renee Claire (Shumar) Carrigan passed away peacefully in the company of her children in Sarasota, Florida on January 27, 2017. She was 88 years of age.

She was born on September 21, 1928 to parents, Elias and Anna Shumar, Renee was born and raised in Easton, PA. She is survived by her sister, Maureen Geosits; daughters, Eileen and Anne Carrigan; her son, John; son-in-law, Allen Knitter; daughter-in-law, Julie; and her grandchildren, Emma Kaitlyn and John Patrick Carrigan, Jr.

Renee spent her life caring for others. She graduated from St. Lukes School of Nursing, in Bethlehem, PA, was a devoted nurse and mother and unwavering in her lifelong attention to others. Renee was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church and the St. Theresa Sodality. Her loss will be felt deeply by all who knew her and she will be welcomed into the next life by friends and family that she has missed dearly for so long.

Divine Liturgy will be held on Saturday February 25th in Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 4th & Ferry Streets, Easton, PA and interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Palmer Twp. Arrangements are under the direction of the Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA , (Palmer Twp).
