Richard S. Werkheiser, 76, of Bethlehem Township, passed away peacefully in his home on September 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the devoted husband of Joan (Jaxheimer) Werkheiser with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.

Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Gerald and Helen (Golab) Werkheiser. Richard was a graduate of Liberty High School and earned a degree in history from Kutztown University. He dedicated 30 years of his career to Bethlehem Steel until its closing, while also running Werky Lawn Care, a side business he truly enjoyed. He later retired from Lehigh Valley Health Network, where he worked as a mail courier. He was a lifetime fan of the Phillies and Eagles and enjoyed camping, solving cryptogram puzzles, playing scratch-off lottery tickets, listening to classic rock, caring for his lawn, and spending time with his grandkids. A devoted husband, father, and Pop Pop, he was loved and cherished by his family and all who knew him.

Richard is survived by his sons, Michael R. Werkheiser and his wife, Brittany, of Kendall Park, NJ, and Steven A. Werkheiser of Wilson; daughter, Kathryn Baglini and her husband, Anthony, of Easton; grandchildren, Jack and Grace Werkheiser, children of Michael and Brittany, and Sophie and Luke Baglini, children of Kathryn and Anthony; brothers, Gerald Werkheiser and his wife Frances, and Jeffrey Werkheiser; sister, Mary Ellen Bedics and her husband, Joseph; and many nieces and nephews.
