Robert D. "Bob" Kavanaugh, 94, of Forks Twp. passed away at St. Luke's Anderson Campus on June 20, 2024. Born on December 4, 1929 in Wilson Borough, he was the son of the late Daniel and Nettie (Kelchner) Kavanaugh.
Bob graduated from Wilson High School in 1947. From 1951 to 1953, he proudly served with the US Army in Germany during the Korean War. He worked at Dixie Cup/ James River from 1947 to 1951 and again from 1953 until his retirement in 1988. He was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for 20 years and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Easton. Bob was an avid sports fan, especially the Phillies, Eagles and Wilson High School sports. He enjoyed traveling the US and Europe with his wife and spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by his wife of 73 years, Cherie Slater Kavanaugh of Forks Twp.; son, Robert M Kavanaugh of Wilson Borough; daughter, Susan Kavanaugh Fissel and son in law, Jack Fissel of Palmer Twp.; granddaughter, Becky Fissel of Norristown and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sister, Virginia Shafer.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the assisted living staff at Country Meadows, Forks Twp. Their assistance and care for Bob the last 9 months enriched his life.
