Obituary

Robert Roth, 84, of Palmer Township passed away on Thursday February 9, 2017 in his home.

Born May 1, 1932 in Hazleton, PA, Robert was the son of the late Geneva Roth Peffer, raised by his grandparents, the late Simon and Gertrude Roth of Drums, Luzerne County, PA.

Robert graduated from Hazleton High School in the class of 1951. Robert married the former Mary Mitzi Ressler who passed away on March 9, 1998. They were married for 38 years.

Robert was a member of the United States Army serving in Korea with the 21st Tank Company and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Robert Retired in 1998 as manager of Easton Suburban Water Authority with over 40 years of service. Robert was a member of the American Water Works Association, a member of PA Water Works Association, and a member of PA Water Works Operators Association. While employed in management with the Water Authority, he was active in the PA Municipal Authority Association.

Robert was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Palmer Twp. He served the church as Eucharistic Minister and usher for many years. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Union Council 345 in Easton and is a past Grand Knight. He is a 4th Degree member of Pope Pius XII Assembly and is a past faithful navigator. He was a member of Pope Pius XII Chalice Association.

Robert was a member and past president of the Wilson Boro. Lions Club. He was a former member of NE PA Lions Eye Bank Inc. For many years, Robert took care of the handling of eye containers for shipment to the area of NE PA for shipment of eyes. Robert was the recipient of Melvin Jones Service Award. Robert has been a member of the Wilson Boro. Lions Club for 50 years.

Robert is survived by his longtime faithful companion and caregiver Suzanne F. Light, sons Robert Jr. and wife Jeannie of Wilson Boro., Matthew and wife Susan of Lower Nazareth Twp and daughter Teresa Patterson and husband Elvis of Montomery, Alabama. Robert is also survived by six grandchildren, Gregory Whitmore, Michael Whitmore, Robert Whitmore, AJ Lynn, Gregory Decker and Theresa Decker. Sisters Elaine Zimbar, Eileen Bruch and a grandson Bradley Robert Roth preceded Robert in death.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm and also on Monday from 9:00 am until 10:00 am in the Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas St. Easton (Palmer Twp.). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:30am in St. Janes Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave. Palmer Twp. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Palmer Twp.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the St. Janes Church Building Fund, 4049 Hartley Ave. Easton, PA 18045 or to Heartland Hospice 881 Marcon Blvd. Suite 3700, Allentown, PA 18109 in memory of Robert.
