Robert Thomas, known as "The Captain" and "Bob O," 79, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 7, 2021.
He was born in Easton, PA, a son of the late Joseph and Barbara (Martinkus) Thomas.
Robert was married to Nancy Marroni, and they recently celebrated their 20 th wedding anniversary.
Robert is a graduate of Easton High School Class of 1959 where he was a 3-year starter for Easton.
He was a Guard for the Red Rovers' unbeaten 1958 team which is still considered one of the best in the school's history. After graduating high school, he enlisted into the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1962. He was stationed to the reserves until 1965. During his military career he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
In Bob's spare time, he enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, flea marketing, and spending time with his family and grand puppies. His passion was collecting Campbell Soup items and metal detecting.
Bob's kind hearted spirit will be missed by many and evident to all that knew him.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by sons, Robert Thomas of Easton, and William Mount of New Hampshire; daughters, Barbara Nonnemacher and husband Jeffrey of Bethlehem, Loretta Lohenitz and husband Matthew of Nazareth, Gina DeVito, and Debra Scarpantonio; a brother, John Thomas and wife Josephine of Easton; a sister, Loretta Herkalo and husband David of Florida; former spouse Geraldine Thomas of Easton; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren, four nephews; one niece; and one great nephew.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp), followed by a Funeral Service at 8:00 pm in the funeral home with Military Honors.
