Roberta P. Alessi, 79, of Palmer Township passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2019, at Moravian Village of Bethlehem, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born February 5, 1940, in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late Joseph Panza and Uldene (Davis).
She grew up in Williamsville, NY graduating from Williamsville High School and Bryant and Stratton College, in Buffalo, NY.
After marriage and the birth of two sons she moved to Easton, PA, Liverpool, NY and back to Easton. In the first move to Easton, Roberta was a member of the Newcomers Club and was an officer in the Daughters of Fatima at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church. In Liverpool, NY she was an officer in the Bayberry Homeowner's Association, volunteered at Craven Crawford Elementary School and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. After the move back to Easton, Roberta and husband Joseph, volunteered in several capacities at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church, were a team couple for marriage encounter. She volunteered at St. Francis Retreat House and Palmer Elementary School. She was also a Birthright volunteer.
Roberta was employed at Notre Dame High School. At Northampton Community College she worked in Student Activies, Project Aware, The Center for Business & Industry and served as Coordinator of the Adult Student Organization. She also worked in Admissions at Lafayette College.
Her greatest pleasure after retirement was serving as Queen and Co-Queen of the Ruby Circle Roses Chapter of the Red Hat Society which was the first chapter in the Lehigh Valley as well as serving on the Lehigh Valley Queen's Council.
Roberta is survived by the loves of her life son Eric and wife Ann Marie (Piccirillo), grands Antonio and Olivia son Mark and wife Cheryl (Mazar), grandson Dante as well as step sister Karen Ross and niece Jennifer Ross, of Buffalo, NY and sister in law Arleen Alessi and nephew Matthew Cady, of Clarence, NY. In addition to her parents Roberta was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph Alessi and her brother Joseph Panza.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 29, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Morello Funeral Home Inc., 3720 Nicholas St. Easton (Palmer Twp.), PA. Additional calling hour will be held on Saturday at 9:00a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Avenue, Palmer Twp. Interment will follow at Northampton Memorial Shrine, in Palmer township. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Notre Dame High School 3417 Church Rd.
