Ronald Pierrè (Pete) Portee, 81, of Easton, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital, Easton. Born in Jacksonville, IL he was a son of the late Homer Norton and Marion Louise (Johnson) Portee. He graduated from Jacksonville High School and later went to college to earn his bachelors in business. Pete enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for 16 years. He was in the Navy band, serving as a band master during his time in the military.
He was a member of Phillipsburg Alliance Church and the Musicians Union. Pete had a great love and passion for music. He could play many instruments including the trumpet, trombone, standing bass, electric bass, and drums. His love for music would eventually take him to Disney World where he worked for 30 years, entertaining millions of people at the park. He enjoyed mentoring other musicians, including his grandchildren. Pete will be greatly missed by the music community. During his spare time Pete enjoyed Drum and Bugle Corps, model trains and he was an avid sports fan. He recently attended the NBA game between the 76ers and Denver Nuggets in Philadelphia.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Maria F. (Fistner) Portee; sons, Dan J. Portee and his wife, Renee of FL; Dywane Portee, of FL; Robert Klein, Jr. and his wife, Carol of Quakertown; daughters, Wendy Thomas of Orcas Island; Susan Marie DelRe of Hellertown; Jennifer Anne Barnett and her husband, Paul of Easton; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, he was looking forward to the birth of his 5th great grandchild later this year. Pete also leaves behind his sister, Deborah Wills and her husband, Donald of Pensacola, FL; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Father Malcom Portee.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton (Palmer Twp.) followed by a memorial service. Interment will take place at Easton Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Pete's name may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
