Russell Joseph DiMarco of Palmer Township passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Sally (Udicious) DiMarco with whom he was married for fifty-one years. Born on February 4, 1933 in Bangor, Pa; he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret Campanaro DiMarco. Personal: Russell was a 1950 graduate of Bangor High School and The Pennsylvania State University, Class of 1954. While at Penn State he was a proud member of the Blue Band. He received a Masters Degree in Education from Lehigh University after also attending East Stroudsburg University and Trenton State College He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea with the 8th Army during 1955 and 1956. Russ was an educator in the Town of Phillipsburg. He taught 5th grade at the Beers and Sitgreaves Schools beginning in 1962. In 1967, he was named principal of the Barber School and over the next few years served as principal at the Reese and Brensinger Elementary Schools. In 1972, he was named the first principal of the Green Street School and ten years later became principal at the Phillipsburg Middle School where he remained until retirement in 1988. Memberships: He was a member of the Forks Township Lions Club, serving as its scholarship chairman for many years. He held memberships in the Penn State Alumni Association, The Blue Band Alumni Association and The Nittany Lion Club. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Easton Council 345. After retirement from education, he volunteered for Project of Easton, Meals on Wheels of Northampton County and at AARP as a tax preparer for senior citizens and teacher of preparation classes. He was a member of St Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church for fifty years. He volunteered for the church taking communion to the patients of Easton Hospital and Manor Care Nursing Home. Survivors: In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his four children: Michael and wife Katie of Greenwich Township, NJ; Deanne and husband Dan of St. Louis, MO; Stacy and husband Peter ; Susan and husband Steve all of Forks Township, PA. Also surviving are his nine grandchildren: Margaret, Matthew and Emily DiMarco; Corinne and Brennan Murphy; Stephanie and Alex Gray; Abigail and Nicholas Johnson. He is also survived by brother, Dr. Joseph C. DiMarco and wife Rosemary of Palmer Township. Services: Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 6pm 8 pm in the Morello Funeral Home Inc. 3720 Nicholas St. Nicholas St. Palmer Twp. An additional calling hour will be held Thursday from 9:30am 10:30am in St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church 4049 Hartley Ave. Palmer Twp. followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine Palmer Twp.
