Salvatore J. “Sal” Panto, Sr., 98, of Easton, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Born on August 18, 1927, in Easton, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Maria (Insana) Panto.

Mr. Panto was a graduate of Easton High School, Class of 1945, and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he became the proprietor of Sal’s Meat Market on College Hill in 1976. For 28 years, his business was a trusted and valued fixture within the community. After retiring, he continued to work part-time for several years at Wegmans in Lower Nazareth Township.

A man of deep faith and lifelong service, Salvatore was a devoted member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, where he served faithfully as an usher for many years. He was an active member of St. Anthony’s Holy Name Society for more than 75 years and was honored as Man of the Year in recognition of his dedication. Mr. Panto was also a longtime member of the Holy Cross Society, where he served in various leadership roles, including trustee and orator. In addition, Salvatore was a charter member of the Booster Club at Notre Dame High School at Green Pond, a member of the Notre Dame Hall of Fame, and attended many of Notre Dame High School’s games. He was also a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics community service club.

In his leisure time, Mr. Panto enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and enthusiastically supporting his favorite football teams, the University of Notre Dame and the Philadelphia Eagles. Above all, he was a devoted father and grandfather who took great pride in attending the sporting events of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons, Salvatore J. Panto, Jr. and his wife, Pam; Joseph Panto and his wife, Irene; Paul Panto and his wife, Jennifer; and his daughter, Nancy Casciole and her husband, Perry. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Gregory, David, Meghan, Marybeth, Matthew, Lauren, Nina, Sarah, Maria, and Nicole, as well as sixteen great-grandchildren: Madison, Paige, Natalie, Nico, Leo, Reagan, Emily, Landon, McKenna, Charlotte, Owen, Ainsley, Elijah, Emelia, Gabriella, and Sophia.

In addition to his parents, Salvatore was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jane (Mussillami) Panto; his sisters, Rose Noto, Sarah Caruso, and Lillian Villanti; his brothers, Dominick, Donald, and Joseph Panto; and his granddaughter, Lisa.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Township). An additional calling hour will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 9:15 AM until 10:15 AM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Ninth and Lehigh Streets, Easton, PA. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the teams at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Hecktown Oak, Advanced Rehab of Hanover, and Gracedale Nursing Home for the care they provided to Salvatore.
