Sandra Margaret Strausser, 90, of Palmer Twp., passed on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Pleasant Valley Manor. Born in Philadelphia she was a daughter of the late Leo F. Bonner, M.D. and Margaret (Miller) Stubblebine. Sandra graduated from Easton High School class of 1952. Upon graduation she worked as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone and Palmer School Lunch Lady amongst other companies. In 1978 Sandra and her husband founded Strausser Haus of Breads in Palmer Township. Later years she retired from Cracker Barrel restaurants marketing as A Country Lady. Her greatest job was being a wonderful homemaker for her husband and children.
Sandra was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Nazareth. She also attended New Creation United Church, Palmer Twp. Sandra was a lifelong resident of Easton, and she has lived a rich, full life of dedication to our community. She served two consecutive terms as a member of the Advisory Board of the Pennsylvania Council on Aging. She served as president of the PTA at E.A.H.S. and Palmer Elementary School. She became Chairperson of the American Lung Association and the Christian Women's Council of Bethlehem and participated in Bible Study group at her church. One of her proudest achievements is her work with Meals on Wheels. Positivity, love, and laughter-these 3 words are how many friends and family saw Sandra.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Strausser, of Palmer Twp.; Gary Strausser, of Palmer Twp; daughters, Margaret Gaumer, of Palmer Twp.; Melanie Young (Kyle), of Nazareth; grandchildren, Jeremy, Stephanie, Melissa, Gary, Jenna, Brendan, Sarah Kate; great grandchildren, Kami, Piper, Hudson, Maddox, Georgia, and Brooks. Sandra was grateful to her caregivers, Christina, Darlene, Cassandra, Meals on Wheels, and Wegmans Pharmacy.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 S. Broad St, Nazareth, PA 18064 followed by a funeral service. Interment will take place at Northampton Memorial Shrine, Green Pond Road, Easton.
Memorial contributions in Sandra's name may be made to Meals on Wheels Greater Lehigh Valley, 1302 N. Sherman St., Allentown, PA 18109; St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 S.
