Name: Joseph A. Azzalina, Sr. of Palmer Twp. passed away Saturday November 21, 2009 in Easton Hospital, Wilson Boro. Born: He was born on February 7, 1920 in Phillipsburg, NJ a son of the late Salvatore and Rosaria Torcivia Azzalina. Personal: Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, the former Teresa Scarano. They celebrated 56 years of marriage together before her passing in 1998. He was the owner/operator of Joes Market in Easton for many years retiring in September of 2005. As owner and operator of Joes Market, he enjoyed serving the people of Downtown Easton for over fifty years. Joseph proudly served his country during World War II in the Medical Corp attaining the rank of T/Sgt. As a medic he tended to injured soldiers and consoled them during their time of distress. .He attended Phillipsburg Public Schools. Memberships: He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Easton. Survivors: Joseph was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his sons, Joseph Jr. and wife Diane of Palmer Twp., Thomas and wife Josephine of Palmer Twp.; his daughter JoEllen Bartolacci of Palmer Twp., with whom he resided; sisters Anne French of Palmer Twp., Mary Bastinelli of Bethlehem Twp.; brothers Santo Azzalina of Palmer Twp., Thomas Azzalina of Palmer Twp.; grandchildren Frank and wife Marta Azzalina, Hannah and Mary Azzalina, Joseph and Michael Azzalina, Michael and wife Elissa Manlove, Teresa and husband Thomas Makin, Ann Bartolacci, Anthony and wife Ann Bartolacci, Paulette and husband Donnie Wilderotter; great grandchildren Mighty, Calvin, Henry, Stephanie, Jordan, Faith, Michael Jr., Thomas, Stephen, Matthew, Anthony III, Joseph, Nicholas, Heidi, Sabrina, Alanna and his dear friend Shirley La Faver of Allentown. Sisters Arcangela Fritzo, Josephine Fatta and a brother Sebastiano Azzalina preceded Joseph in death. His was a life well lived. Services: Calling hours will be held Monday from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, 6:00pm until 8:00pm and Tuesday from 8:15am until 9:15am in the Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas St. Palmer Twp. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00am in the church, 9th and Lehigh Streets in Easton. Interment will be in St. Anthonys Cemetery, Williams Twp.
