Stephen Jay Garcia was born May 19, 1954 to Barbara and Joseph Garcia in the Bronx, NY. He was their first child. He grew up in East Elmburst, NY. After graduating from high school in 1972, he attended Lafayette College in Easton, PA. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering in 1976. Steve's first job was with US Gypsum in Tarrytown, NY. During this time, he married Virginia Duncan (June 7, 1980) in New York City. After a couple years at US Gypsum, Steve left to pursue an MBA degree at St. Johns University, graduating in 1983 and beginning his career in telecommunications with New Jersey Bell. Steve stayed with New Jersey Bell through its transition to Verizon. At Verizon, Steve successfully moved from Marketing to Finance. When Verizion moved headquarters to Basking Ridge, NY in 2005, Steve moved his family from Delaware to Easton, PA. In 2009, Steve retired from Verizon and successfully navigated a career change from Financial Analyst to Computer Aided Design Engineer. After receiving his third degree at Northampton Community College, he began his new career at Air Products in 2011. He started as a contractor, and then was hired full time. Steve was delighted to be part of the Air Products team and doing a job that he loved. Just a few days before his untimely passing, he returned from a five-week trip to Australia where he was very excited to see how some of his work looked in real life. Steve was especially proud of his children, Wesley and Brieana, and pleased with their progress in life. From the very beginning, he was active, participating dad and enjoyed family life together with Virginia. His favorite hobbies were gold and cycling. He was a person that was particularly aware of his health, and he tried to take good care of himself. Steve was a great husband, father, son, brother, friend, and a kind, thoughtful, intelligent person. We all love him and will miss him. Steve leaves to mourn him his wife, Virginia Denise Duncan; his two children, Wesley Jay Garcia and Brieana Jenee Duncan Garcia; his mother, Barbara Greene, his two sisters, Leslie Greene and Joanne Garcia, two brother-in-laws, cousins and a host of friends and co-workers.Services were held on Saturday December 26, 2015 in the Morello Funeral Home, Inc.
