Celebrating a rich life full of love, happiness, leadership, and friendship,
STEVEN B. GOLDEN
of Easton, Pennsylvania, died at age 74 on Saturday, November 9, 2019 .
Steven (a/k/a "StevieB" and "Poppy") is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marilyn B. Golden, and his two children Michele Golden Demsky (Bradford), Joshua Golden (Jennifer), and his five adoring grandchildren, Maxwell, Zachary, Jake, Eli, and Lilah.
Born on December 11, 1944, in New York City, Steven attended Pascack Valley Regional High School Hillsdale, NJ (Class of 1962), he earned a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Degrees at the Manhattan School of Music as an upright bass player.
Steven began his long and prosperous career as a professional band and symphonic musician for 10 years. However, his largest and most visible success was seen as a serial entrepreneur and renaissance businessman, pursuing his passion for art by creating his first of three companies, Studio Artist Materials (from 1972 to 1977). He worked as the Head of the Art Materials Division at Binney & Smith, and then founded an art consulting firm, Steven B. Golden Associates, Inc., in 1987, which grew into ArtSkills, Inc., where he was the President & CEO, and built that company with his partners, wife Marilyn, daughter Michele, and son-in-law Bradford, to a national mass-market retail supplier of art, craft, educational and several other consumer packaged goods in 70,000 stores in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and China, with manufacturing in North America, Asia, and Europe.
While his business success was extraordinary, that was never his primary focus. He was a mentor, father figure, and a dear friend to everyone that came into his "family" circle. His priority was always people over profit. He offered a model perspective on what it means to live a successful life. He believed above all else that, "Whatever you do, do it with people you love and then work will always be fun." Steven lived that motto until his last days working with his ArtSkills family and enjoying every moment.
The celebration of Steven's life will begin on Monday, November 11, 2019, with a viewing from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in Morello Funeral Home, 3720 Nicholas St., Easton, Pa., and will continue with a second viewing on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, in the funeral home.
