IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sylvia Durbino
Klepeisz
January 30, 1931 – July 28, 2023
On Friday, July 28, 2023 Sylvia Durbino Klepeisz, loving mother of three, grandmother of eight and great grandmother of ten, passed into heaven at age 92.
Sylvia was born on January 30, 1931 in Easton, PA to John and Sebastiana (Farina) Durbino. She graduated from Easton High School, Class of 1948. On October 13, 1956, she married her one and only love, Steven Klepeisz. They raised three sons, Frank, Steven (Chip) and John.
Sylvia was very proud of her work history, starting with Lafayette College in Easton, PA, Dixie Cup in Easton, and Wright Veterinary Clinic in Bethlehem, PA. At each stop, she made lifelong friends and made a positive impact on the office environment. Sylvia was born on 5th Street in Easton, a predominantly Italian neighborhood. All the families were close, and she grew up with a group of ladies that were her friends her entire life. In the late 1970's with the help of Sylvia and others, the group of friends began meeting to rekindle old friendships. In the early 1990's they began meeting regularly for breakfast or lunch. This group still meets when they are able, 30 years later, to celebrate their friendship and revisit cherished memories from over the past 90 years.
She was an avid reader and loved to share her thoughts on the stories. Cooking was also her passion, often making dishes for others. Many of her recipes have been passed down to generations of family and friends. Sylvia also loved to knit and crochet, and she was willing to teach her skills to anyone that asked. Sylvia's strength in character was admired by anyone that knew her, no doubt anchored by her strong Catholic faith.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, her sister, Margaret Zucchero and many other relatives and close friends.
She is survived by her three sons, Frank (Ileana), of Fernandina Beach, FL, Steven/Chip (Amy), of Cincinnati, OH and John (Gerri), of Yorktown, VA; her eight grandchildren: Lindsay, Jennifer, Nicole, Steven, Sara, Matthew, David and Mark; her ten great grandchildren: Phoenix, Logan, Peyton, Parker, Ridley, Grace, Michael, Jackson, John David and Cara; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as her 5th Street Gang family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church or school.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem, PA at 11 am. Viewing will be in the church vestibule from 10 - 11 am.
