Thomas W. Blackton, Jr., 93, of Bath passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026 at home with his loving family by his side. Born on December 9, 1932 in Easton, he was the son of the late Catherine E. (Dugan) and Thomas W. Blackton, Sr.

He graduated from Wilson High School class of 1951. He earned his bachelor’s degree in education from East Stroudsburg University in 1955. Tom furthered his education by earning his master’s in school administration from Lehigh University in 1962.

Tom dedicated his life to the betterment of future generations. He began his teaching career at Shull junior High School where he taught English and social studies. He became the chairperson of the English department for the Easton Area School District from 1958-1967. He would later make the leap from teacher to principal at Forks Elementary School from 1967-1971, Edward Tracey Elementary School from 1971-1979 and again from 1985-1990, and Palmer Elementary School from 1982-1984. After retirement, her served as an interim principal at Ada B. Cheston Elementary School. Tom was not only just a teacher, he was also a coach for football, basketball, and baseball over the course of 12 years. He also coached the Easton Area Midget Program for 5 years. Tom was a member of the National Education Association, Pennsylvania State Education Program, Easton Area Principals’ Association, PA Principals Association, the State and National Association of Elementary School Principals and the Pennsylvania School Boards Association. Additionally, he was a member of the Council of English. He earned the Easton Rotary Club Teacher of the Year Award 1966-1967.

Thomas is survived by his daughter, Christine Bussanich; sons, Thomas W. Blackton III and his wife, Becky; William Blackton and his wife, Donna; Donald Blackton and his wife, Yan; grandchildren, Daniel Bussanich, Jessica Bussanich, William Blackton, Ashley Robinson, Amber Blackton, Stephanie Blackton, Spencer Blackton, Joseph Blackton, Christopher Blackton, Sean Blackton; great grandchildren, Zoey Robinson, Ryland Robinson, William “Wiley” Blackton, Faye Blackton, and Bowen Goolsby. He also leaves behind his sister, Pat DeLorenzo and her husband, Ron.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Densler, Mary Louise Hocking, Catherine Lee, Virginia Schaffer, and Jane Thatcher.

Calling hours will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton (Palmer Twp.) followed by a memorial service. Interment is private. Memorial contributions in Thomas’ name may be made to Easton Area School District. Online condolences may be offered at www.morellofuneralhome.com. His children would particularly appreciate remembrances from educators, students, and parents with whom he worked.
