Name: Viola R. Gurak, 94 of Palmer Twp. passed away Sunday September 25, 2011 in her home surrounded by her family. Born: She was born on June 16, 1917 in Passaic, NJ a daughter of the late Frank and Rose Baran Szeczwyk. Personal: Viola was preceded in death by her husband Thomas A. Gurak in 1990. She served as an educator for the Catholic Church and was employed by the Public School System retiring in 2000. Viola was a graduate of Passaic High School class of 1935 and earned her associates degree in Liberal Arts from Somerset County College. Memberships: She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Easton, and a former member of St. Bernard's in Bridgewater NJ. She also was a member of the Federated Womens Club, Somerset County Election Board, life member of the NJ State PTA and former member of Mensa. Survivors: Viola is survived by her son, Douglas T. Gurak and wife Mary Kritz of Ithaca, NY; daughters Adriane G. Ludwick of Lander, PA, Valerie G. Hollingsworth and husband Michael of Palmer Twp.; grandchildren Michael and Douglas Ludwick, Laura Murray, Adam and Thomas Hollingsworth and great grandchildren Martin, Molly and Parker Ludwick. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua church, 9th and Lehigh Streets in Easton. Interment will be in St. Bernards Cemetery, Bridgewater, NJ. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas St. Palmer Twp.
