Walter D. Evancho, Jr., 76, of Forks Township, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019 in Easton Hospital.
Born August 16, 1942 in Wilkes Barre he was a son of the late Walter D. and Frances (Namiotko) Evancho, Sr.
Walter was a Manager of Quality Assurance with Ingersoll-Rand of Phillipsburg until his retirement in 2003. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, in Wilkes Barre, Class of 1960; then received his Bachelor's Degree from Penn State University, Class of 1964, and Bachelor's Degree from Salem College, Class of 1975. Walter proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He loved going to the beach, boating, crabbing, and fishing. He enjoyed coaching football and baseball, annoying his wife, being with his family, and attending his grandchildren's activities.
Walter was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Palmer Twp. He was a 4 th Degree Knight of Columbus. He was also a member of the Fleas Club, Citizens Hose, and the American Legion. In his earlier years, Walter was an avid bowler with many leagues at Warren Lanes in Phillipsburg, where he bowled a perfect game.
Walter is survived by his wife of 52 years, Suzanne (Arnold) Evancho; children, Christine Mengel and husband Jeff of Nazareth, Walter "Dan" Evancho, III and wife Cindy of Forks Twp., Matthew A. Evancho of Bethlehem, and daughter-in-law Kristin Evancho of Palmer Twp.; grandchildren Alena Korp, Brandon Mengel, Kayla Evancho, Maya Evancho, Kyle Evancho, and Brooke Evancho; brother, Bruce Evancho and wife Lynn of West Chester; and three nieces. He is preceded in death by a brother, Ron Evancho, sister in law, Clare (Erlinger) Evancho, and a nephew Steven Evancho.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 132 S 5th St, Easton, PA 18042. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Palmer Twp.
