Walter Kowalick, 90, of Bethlehem Twp PA, formerly of Palmer Township, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in Easton Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Walter was born October 12, 1924 in Great Meadows, NJ, a son of the late Joseph and Eva (Laszek) Kowalick. Walter was a graduate of Hackettstown High School in 1942. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Rider College, Trenton, NJ in 1948. Enlisting in the United States Army in 1942, he attended the University of Alabama as an aviation trainee and was later transferred to the infantry. He served in the European Theater of Operations with the 65th infantry division of General Patton's 3rd Army. He was discharged in 1945 with the rank of staff sergeant, having been awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star medal. Walter was a certified public accountant in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He worked for Mack Printing for 18 years, retiring in 1981, as the Vice President of finance and treasurer. Prior to working at Mack Printing Company, he worked for Palmer & Co, CPA. Walter is a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church, in Palmer Twp. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey and Pennsylvania State Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. He was a member of the Theta Chi Alumni Association. In addition to his loving parents he is preceded in death by his son: James Kowalick; three brothers: Peter, Raymond, and Wesley Kowalick; and two sisters: Olga Riedinger and Helen Duckworth. Walter is survived by his loving wife, of 63 years Gloria (Mercadante) Kowalick, of Bethlehem; two sons: Gregory Kowalick and his wife Robin Litwa, of Langhorne, PA; David Kowalick and his companion Angie Funk, of Macungie, PA; two grandchildren: Kevin and Kelli Kowalick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church 4049 Hartley Ave. Easton, (Palmer Twp.) PA, immediately followed by interment at Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp. Donations in memory of Walter may be made to your favorite charity.
