Walter J. Schmitt, formerly of North Brunswick, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown.

Born : Walter was born in Bronx, NY along with his twin sister Kay, a son of the late Walter and Madeline Schmitt.

Personal: Walter was married to Linda Schmitt. He moved to North Brunswick, NJ some 45 years ago, and then moved to PA with his wife Linda. He served in the US Air Force and the Air National Guard. He worked for the New York Telephone Company and AT&T starting as a splicer helper working his way up to manager. Walter served as a Special Deputy Sheriff for Middlesex County for three years, and served as a Special Police Officer in North Brunswick for over twenty years. He was President of New Jersey State Special Police Association. He loved to fish in his Bass boat and shoot at the range.

Memberships: Walter was a member and usher of Our Lady of Peace Church in North Brunswick for over 40 years. He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a life member of the Old Bridge Pistil and Rifle Club in NJ.

Survivors: In addition to his wife Linda, Walter is survived by his sons Peter and his wife Julie Schmitt, Keith and his wife Karen McIlvaine; daughter-in-law Lisa and her husband Mitch Brodsky; sister Catherine Moccio; grandchildren Jeremy, Kristin, Kelly, Jessica, Trevor, Cole, Matthew, and Meghan.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1740 US Highway 130, North Brunswick, NJ 08902. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am in Hope Hecktown Cemetery, Route 191, Nazareth, PA. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp).
