Warren H. Travis, 97, of Easton, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021 in Mosser Nursing Home.
He was born in West New York, NJ, a son of the late Harold Travis Sr., and Lydia (Hoffstetter) Travis.
Warren was married to his High School sweetheart, the former Jean Surran for over 70 years, until her passing in November 2017. He was a graduate of Wilson High School, class of 1942, and attended Churchman's Business School. He served in the US Army as Staff Sergeant during World War II in the 43 rd Infantry Division. Warren was a chief sales assistant for Galvanized & Specialty Sheet Sales at Bethlehem Steel until retiring in 1983. He was co-captain of Wilson High School Basketball team that won the second half championship of the then Lehigh Northampton League; played basketball, football, and track for Wilson for three years. He was very proud of officiating the Wilson / Nazareth football game as referee for over 20 years. Warren was an avid golfer and belonged to Harker's Hollow Golf Club for 17 years, and Green Pond Country Club for 30 years. He was a well-known Easton Area Bowler; was secretary/treasurer for EABA for 12 years and established the Current EABA Hall of Fame; wrote the Xpress Bowling Column; and bowled two perfect "300" games in the Ed Storm Major League. He was a well-known football and basketball official for 40 years; a past president of the Collegiate Basketball Officials Organization from 1982-1983; past president of the International Association of Basketball official Association; Interpret of rules for Easton Chapter of Basketball Officials Association for over 35 years; and past president of the Eastern PA Football Officials Association.
Warren was a member of New Creation UCC since its inception and was a member of the Finance Committee for that period until his passing. He was also a member of Green Pond Golf Club for 25 years; and a life member of Wilson Varsity W. Club.
Warren is survived by a daughter Nancy T. Paul and husband Scott of Fleetwood, PA; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a sister Edith Goodman; and a brother Harold Travis, Jr.
A calling hour will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.), followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30 am in the funeral home. Entombment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine Mausoleum, Palmer Twp.
