Winfred Winnie Hontz, 90, of Palmer Twp., PA, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in New Eastwood Care & Rehabilitation Center. Born: Winnie was born in Lehighton, PA, a son of the late Thomas H. and Lillian (Shoemaker) Hontz. Personal: Winnie was married to the former Margaret Pennell. He was a graduate of Lehighton High School, and served in the US Army during World War II. He was an installer for Western Electric for the Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton area, before retiring in 1983. Memberships: Winnie was a member of the American Legion Lehighton Post, AmVets, F&AM Lodge 621 of Lehighton for 60 years. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Winnie is survived by a son Karl Hontz and wife Wendy of West Easton; a sister Eleanor Schwartz of Surf City, NJ; grandson Eric and wife Olya of Baltimore, MD; and a great-granddaughter Maya. Services: Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm in Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Lehighton, PA.
