John "Bevo" "Jack" Walter, 76, of Wilson Borough, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 5, 1948, in Easton, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Louise (Kirchoffer) Walter.
Jack was a 1966 graduate of Wilson Area High School and went on to earn his associate degree from Northampton Community College. He worked for many years in sales and served the community through his work with the City of Easton Highway Department's Public Safety Division and as a dedicated member of the Wilson Borough Fire Department for 15 years. He also worked at Morello Funeral Home, Inc.
Jack was known for his sense of humor and his ability to brighten anyone's day. He was a loving husband, father, PoPPoP, and friend — kindhearted, loyal, and generous. To know him was to love him. He loved traveling with his wife and friends for golf trips to Myrtle Beach and Florida, and taking trips to the beach with his family and friends. He also enjoyed following Wilson Borough sports throughout the years, but especially watching his grandson play baseball, his granddaughter play softball, and his other granddaughter sing in her school's chorus and drama club. He loved going out to breakfast with his "cronies." But mostly, Jack (Bevo) enjoyed life.
A man of Lutheran faith, Jack was a proud member of several community organizations, including the Citizens Hose Co., Palmer Twsp. Fire Company, Wilson Borough Fire Department, and the Moose Lodge Club, where he put his bartending skills to use for many years.
Jack is survived by his children, Gina Werkheiser and her husband Kyle of Wilson Borough, and Jason Woodring of New Milford, CT; and his beloved grandchildren, Madeline, Brady, and Olivia Werkheiser.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 42 years, Judith "Judy" (LeClair) Walter; his sister, Eleanor Seymor; and his brothers, Charles Walter II and Richard Walter.
