Richard F. "Dick" Donato, 83, of Easton, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 in St. Luke's Hospice House, in Bethlehem, PA surrounded by his loving family.
Dick was born in Easton, PA the son of the late Frank and Mary (Regina) Donato. He was a graduate of Easton High School, the class of 1953. Dick then joined the United States Army during peacetime and was honorably discharged. Dick was a Quality Control Inspector at Schaefer Brewing Company, in Fogelsville, PA for many years and later retired from Easton Area School District where he was a security officer. Dick is survived by his wife Karen (Rickert) Donato with whom he spent fifty-one wonderful years together.
Dick was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church. He served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Anthony's Church, in Easton. He was a member of the former FLEAS club of Easton, and the Varsity E club. Dick loved the Easton Red Rovers, the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Phillies. He was a season ticket holder for over 40 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Richard A. Donato and his wife Teresa, of Williamstown, NJ, Lt Col (ret) Jeffrey J. Donato and his wife Susan, of Medina, Ohio, daughters, Nicole Metzger and her husband Dale, of Macungie, Danielle Thatcher and her husband Michael, of Palmer Twp., eight grandchildren Bailey and Zachary Donato, Devin, Seth and Averi Metzger, Angelique, Giovanni and Anthony Thatcher, a brother Donald Donato, of Newport News, VA, and a sister Lois George, of Hellertown .
A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 1817 First Street, Bethlehem, PA 18020. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Church. Interment will follow at Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp.
